Virtual LANs (VLANs) offer a method of dividing one physical network into multiple broadcast domains. However, VLAN-enabled switches cannot, by themselves, forward traffic across VLAN boundaries. For Inter-VLAN communication, a Layer 3 device such as a router is required. This Lab scenario will provide step-by-step instructions for configuring VLAN routing using an external router and 3 Layer 2 switches.

In this lab scenario we will use Cisco’s Packet Tracer to create an activity where we will configure and explore the operation of Port Security across 3 switches with 3 VLANs. You will learn to configure and view the default Layer 2 configuration and configure Port Security to limit access to the network via an individual switch port.
